Apple: The First 50 Years is a large-format corporate history by technology journalist David Pogue, published to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of Apple in 2026. It follows the company from the 1976 partnership of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak through periods of early personal-computing influence, serious commercial instability, the return of Jobs, and the Tim Cook era. Rather than treating Apple solely as a sequence of celebrated products, Pogue frames its development through the interaction of engineering, industrial design, marketing, internal culture, and strategic error. The book draws on interviews with more than 150 people connected with Apple, including former leaders, designers, engineers, and executives, alongside archival reporting. Its purpose is both corrective and interpretive: it revisits familiar episodes, challenges several simplified origin stories, and places failures beside landmark successes. Full-color illustrations support an accessible chronological account of how Apple helped make personal technology central to everyday work, media, communication, and culture.
