Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil is a classic work of psychological astrology by Liz Greene, originally published in the 1970s and later issued in the Weiser Classics Series. The book examines Saturn, long treated in traditional astrology as a difficult or malefic planet, through a depth psychological and largely Jungian framework. Rather than presenting Saturn simply as a source of delay, fear, loss, or frustration, Greene interprets it as a symbol of psychic development, inner defense, limitation, discipline, and eventual self knowledge. The book is not a general beginner guide to astrology. Its purpose is to deepen chart interpretation by showing how Saturn functions in signs, houses, aspects, and relationship charts. Greene combines symbolic analysis with psychological reasoning, arguing that painful patterns associated with Saturn can become meaningful when understood consciously. The result is both an astrological reference and a study of maturation, responsibility, and the difficult process of becoming more integrated.
