Transformers for Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision is the third edition of Denis Rothman’s technical guide to transformer based artificial intelligence. Published by Packt, it is a practical, code oriented book for readers who want to understand how the architecture behind modern language models also supports vision and multimodal systems. Rather than treating large language models as isolated chat interfaces, Rothman connects foundational mechanisms such as tokenization, attention, pretraining, and fine tuning to applied tasks including summarization, question answering, translation, image classification, and generation. The coverage moves from established models such as BERT, GPT, T5, and RoBERTa to vision and multimodal systems including ViT, CLIP, DALL E, and GPT 4V. It also addresses deployment concerns that become central in real applications: unreliable outputs, privacy, memorization, interpretability, and model selection. The book is best understood as a broad implementation companion, combining conceptual introductions with examples using Hugging Face, OpenAI tools, and Google Vertex AI.
